As part of Global Intergenerational Week, it’s a chance to recognise the value of intergenerational work, bringing people of different ages together to share experiences, learn from one another and build stronger, more connected communities. These kinds of opportunities can help reduce isolation, break down age-related barriers and create a greater sense of belonging for everyone involved. Llanfaelog Village Hall’s Warm Space project is a great example of this in practice.
With support from the Together Over Winter grant, run by Medrwn Môn and Anglesey County Council, Llanfaelog Village Hall created a welcoming Warm Space that brought people of all ages together through simple, shared activities.

A key factor in its success was hosting the Game Club on Saturdays. This made it easier for a wider mix of people to attend, including families, working-age adults and younger participants who might not otherwise be able to join weekday sessions. As a result, the sessions naturally became more intergenerational.
Alongside this, activities like the Repair Café created further opportunities for people to connect, share skills and build relationships.

Whether learning a new game, fixing household items or chatting over a cup of tea, participants engaged in ways that felt informal and inclusive. The project shows how thoughtful scheduling, alongside low-cost, community-led activities, can strengthen intergenerational connections, reducing isolation and creating a space where people of all ages feel they belong. Together Over Winter funding enabled Llanfaelog Village Hall deliver this impactful, community-led work.
