Funding Snapshot May 2026

Community groups on Anglesey can currently apply to the Cynnal Endowment Fund – Groups, delivered by Community Foundation Wales. The fund offers up to £2,000 per year for up to three years to support educational, youth, early years, vocational training and healthy living projects across Ynys Môn and Gwynedd. Eligible applicants include charities, not-for-profit organisations and schools delivering additional community-based activities. The current deadline is 15 June at 12pm. Anglesey groups may also be eligible for the Fund for Wales, which provides grants of £500–£2,500 for grassroots projects focused on community wellbeing, environment, culture and improving life chances.

The Steve Morgan Foundation is currently inviting applications for large-scale regional grants supporting organisations tackling social disadvantage across North Wales, Cheshire, Merseyside and North Shropshire. Grants of £250,000–£500,000 over three years are available for established not-for-profit organisations with an annual turnover between £300k and £5m. Funding priorities include education, access to provision, health, housing, youth opportunities and employment support. The programme is aimed at organisations delivering long-term, systemic impact through strong partnerships and proven outcomes. Applications are open year-round via the Foundation’s online eligibility checker

Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby, offers rolling grant funding for UK and Ireland projects supporting disadvantaged or disabled children and young people. Schools, charities and not-for-profit organisations can apply for capital projects including sensory rooms, playgrounds, sports facilities, specialist equipment and wellbeing spaces. There is no fixed maximum grant amount, although projects under £2,000–£5,000 are less likely to be funded. Projects must demonstrate long-term impact and align with Wooden Spoon’s focus on helping children “play, learn, thrive and be safe”. Applications are accepted year-round via an Expression of Wish process.

The Co-op Local Community Fund is expected to reopen for applications in June, offering grassroots community groups the opportunity to access a share of £5 million in funding across the UK. Eligible not-for-profit organisations, charities, CICs and community groups can apply for projects that improve mental wellbeing, support young people, tackle food insecurity, strengthen community cohesion or promote sustainability and inclusion. Successful groups become part of the Co-op membership fundraising programme for 12 months and typically receive a minimum of £1,000. The fund is particularly suitable for small, locally rooted organisations delivering practical community impact.

The Green Community Grants Programme, delivered by The Wildlife Trusts with support from Postcode Green Trust, offers flexible grants of up to £25,000 for charities and not-for-profit organisations across England, Scotland and Wales. Funding supports projects focused on nature recovery, climate action, improving access to green spaces and environmental sustainability, including community gardening, habitat restoration, litter picking and biodiversity initiatives. Eligible organisations must have an income between £10,000 and £1 million and have been operating for at least 12 months. The next application window opens 24 June and closes 15 July. Priority is given to smaller organisations, deprived communities and groups supporting marginalised people.
